Barrick Gold Corporation: Pueblo Viejo Project Moves Forward
Pueblo Viejo is a $2.7 billion gold mining project jointly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation (60%) and Goldcorp Inc. (40%)
Production is projected to be almost one million ounces of gold per year during the first full five years of production.
Total proven and probable reserves for Pueblo Viejo at December 31, 2007 were estimated to be 20.4 million ounces1 of gold with 423.6 million pounds of copper and 117.3 million ounces of silver contained within the gold reserves.

It appears the Top 10 (followed by last year;s rank) will be.

Newmont production (-10.0%) dropped more than Anglogold (-2.9%), so they switched postions.
Freeport McMoRan recovered from a weak 2006 (+27.3%)
Goldcorp and Newcrest had increases, while Harmony and Kinross had drops.
Buenaventura (#10 in 2006) was impacted by Yanacocha results (like Newmont) and dropped to #16.

Goldcorp Reports Record Net Earnings
Goldcorp reported record net earnings of $256.5 million, or $0.36 per share, for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 and $460.1 million or $0.65 per share, for the year. Production in 2007 increased 35% to 2,292,600 gold ounces at a total cash cost of $163 per ounce.

The acquisition will increase Barrick's share of proven and probable reserves by 4.6 million ounces to 11.5 million ounces and measured and indicated mineral resources by 1.4 million ounces to 3.5 million ounces.
When the Cortez Hills project is commissioned, the Cortez property is expected to become a significant contributor to Barrick's quality Nevada production base, with average annual production between 950,000 - 1,000,000 ounces of gold at total cash costs of $280-$290 per ounce in the first full five years of production.

Full year production was 8.06 million ounces of gold at total cash costs of $350 per ounce and 402 million pounds of copper at total cash costs of $0.83 per pound
Gold reserves, based on a $575 gold price, increased to 124.6 million ounces(3), more than replacing depletion of 9.5 million ounces, and continue to be the highest in the industry. Measured and indicated gold resources grew 45% to 50.6 million ounces on exploration success at a number of projects.
Reserves and resources do not include the Company's recently acquired interest in Cerro Casale due to insufficient time, after acquisition of our interest in December 2007, to complete the work necessary to incorporate this deposit in year-end results, nor do they include any effect for our acquisition of the remaining 40% interest in the Cortez Joint Venture.
